As a rule, I agree that you shouldn’t go on the pitch during a game, especially when we’re in a relegation battle, but there are always exceptions to the rules, and that is what was exercised on 10th March.
I hope for the rest of the season all protesters can unite and agree to put all their hearts into supporting the team during matches, and all their hearts into protesting all the rest of the time.
Stay off the pitch, don’t throw coins, it’s purely a PR battle now we’ve got the world’s attention. I recommend protest songs that tell the truth and are as funny as fuck. Over two weeks to get creative West Ham.

West Ham United are committed to taking decisive and positive action with the primary focus of ensuring London Stadium is a safe, comfortable and secure environment for supporters attending future matches.
Following the incidents which marred the second half of the Premier League fixture with Burnley on Saturday 10 March, the Club is conducting a full and thorough investigation, and has attended a series of emergency meetings with London Stadium stakeholders.
The Club is working in close conjunction with the Metropolitan Police to identify those individuals, who entered the pitch during the second half, and with stadium operator LS185, using London Stadium’s high-quality CCTV footage, to identify those who threw missiles, both of which are specific offences under the Football (Offences) Act 1991.
Any individual found guilty will be banned from attending any West Ham United fixture, home and away, for life and the Club will request the courts serve a banning order to prevent these individuals attending any football matches in the future.
West Ham United maintain a zero-tolerance policy towards any behaviour of this nature, with the safety of all supporters always the Club’s number one priority.
Senior Club representatives will take a full and leading role at an emergency meeting of the core Safety Advisory Group (SAG) at London Stadium on Thursday.
There, West Ham United will be joined by representatives from LS185, certifying authority Newham Council, the Sports Ground Safety Authority, the Metropolitan Police, E20 and the London Legacy Development Corporation (LLDC).
The Club will make clear that its primary concern is for the safety and comfort of its supporters on matchdays and, to that end, will lead discussions centred on the safety management plans put in place and the policing and stewarding for future fixtures at London Stadium, the first of which will be the Premier League visit of Southampton on Saturday 31 March.
West Ham United would like to thank all those fans who supported the team on Saturday and look forward to welcoming them back to a safe, comfortable and secure London Stadium.
With eight Premier League matches still to play, achieving the points we need has to be the focus. The best chance of reaching that goal is for everyone to be united behind the team when we play Southampton on 31 March and for the remainder of the season.

I take your point gents, but I’m so sick of this that I don’t want us to hold back on the grounds of fear.
It just feels the right time to look forward with hope that we are doing the right thing, rather than fear that we’re not.
The thing I hope we are doing is forcing them out, or, if they have something akin to a religious experience, forcing them to join us, because they can’t beat us.

Adding to what SAX20 said, even if you make it back up, the "rebuild" isn't always successful.
It all depends on the owners.
Look at Newcastle. They were a slow fall before finally being relegated, and they were fortunate to bounce back up; but for all of that, they now are only 2 points and 3 places ahead of us (and with a better manager).

I get your point and if I could be guaranteed the 'period of time' involved, I'd take it voluntarily.
However, I look at once great (if often hated by us) clubs like Leeds, Sheffield Wednesday, Wolves, Forest, Portsmouth and Coventry (Ok, not great, but pretty good) and I don't want 20 years in the wilderness. I too selfish, I want to fantasise about the club amounting to something while I'm still alive.
That's the problem, 'going down to rebuild' is not an option. You may get lucky and come straight back. Or become a 'yo-yo club', which, as all West Ham fans know, is great fun. But more likely you won't.

a) If we were playing at the next level, Payet staying and continuing his form and one or two new players on Payet's level each season, and spanking most teams with even better better football than the 15/16 season, then we will have been able to stomach the new stadium and loss of club identity more easily, (though I would have still been campaigning to buy the stadium and make it better).
b) I'm so pissed off about how far short of the sold dream that this nightmare reality has fallen, that I want them out, and I don't want them to get the big bucks they are hoping for.
So I could stomach a period of time outside of the PL, as it would reduce their earnings and take away a lot of their incentive to turn down our advice of fucking off.
I feel we will end up owning the stadium, and I hope they fuck off before that happens, as they'll only earn more selling the club in that case.

Surf - I think the argument is either a)
you have to take a step back to move forward or
b) anything that makes the owners more likely to fuck off is to be welcomed.
There is a c) It will naturally cleanse the ground of newbies/fans of other team/tourists and d) you might actually get a decent amount of Saturday 3pms.
I don't like the process of relegation as, obviously, it involves us losing which is never nice.
But there are pretty plausible arguments to support the view that relegation may not be the end of the world and, moreover, could herald a New Beginning.

I agree with most of your post. What happened on Saturday was VERY constructive to the cause (although a repeat of the pitch incursions would not be).
However, you have to accept that some of us are somewhat confused by the apparent contradiction between:
a) one of the main complaints - we were lied to regarding 'the next level'
b) a widespread view that we are happy to accept relegation to the lower league(s) for an indefinite period.

I don't get all the so called WH fans and media saying what happened on Saturday was wrong and that the protest should have taken place after the game! That would hardly have registered anywhere. G&S need to know (and they nned to know that the world knows) that they are not welcome here anymore.
The beginning of the end for them hopefully... may take a while but I don't see that there will be any going back from this.
